We are pleased to announce the availability of our 2026 Comprehensive Cybersecurity Training for Healthcare Professionals online training course. This online course has been designed to meet the demands of the healthcare environment by going beyond regular information technology security training to teaching PHI protection.
Why Specialized Healthcare Training Matters
While a typical cyber-security course may specifically deal with protecting data assets, in a medical institution, it becomes imperative to ensure that attention is diverted to PHI. This basically relates to ensuring data security, which is connected to patient safety. Our recently developed 15-module curriculum deals with threats in this sector, which include ransomware and medical identity theft, among others. The subjects covered are designed based on how data flows within a healthcare facility. The objective of this educational process is to ensure employees have real-world knowledge from an IT perspective, rather than just theoretical concepts of Information Technology.
Differentiating Between HIPAA Violations and Data Breaches
The first emphasis within our new curriculum for 2026 is the distinction between HIPAA violations and data breaches. Both issues have often been confused with each other. Our training describes how breaches of HIPAA regulations normally result from internal failure to comply with necessary safeguards that are not properly followed, for instance, mishandling of patient records and failure to execute a Business Associate agreement. These internal breaches often present opportunities for hackers to breach an organization and cause big incidents that might affect patient services.
Curriculum Details
Our self-paced, three-hour course covers current threat vectors affecting the healthcare industry. Some of the key modules include:
• Social Engineering: Methods for detecting phishing and spear phishing attacks on healthcare credentials.
• Physical Delays: Methods of protecting workstations, mobile carts, or personal computers in a healthcare environment.
• Incident Reporting: Procedures for early detection and reporting of security incidents aimed at mitigating liability and avoiding operational downtimes.
